Penn State Berks Family and Homecoming Weekend October 7-9

WYOMISSING, Pa. – Penn State Berks alumni and family members of students are invited to the college’s annual family and homecoming weekend Friday, October 7th through Sunday, October 9th. This year’s theme is “Home Sweet Homecoming”.

The weekend includes activities for the whole family, including social and sporting events that showcase the campus. Most events are free and open to all attendees unless otherwise noted, but many require prior registration.

Friday October 7th

Float Building Party1pm to 7pm, parking lot B2 in front of Beaver Athletics and Wellness Center
Bring the whole family to watch as our student organizations put their creativity to the test as they build their best floats for Saturday’s 12pm Homecoming Parade. The floats are judged and the winning organizations receive financial support to host an event for their members.

Bonfire with karaoke and live music8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Luerssen and Perkins Lawns
Kick off Homecoming weekend with the annual bonfire, described as a sight to behold. Join us for an evening of music, snacks and camaraderie. Sponsored by the Student Government Association.

Saturday October 8th

Legacy Breakfast8:45 a.m., Alumni tent on Perkins Lawn, Pre-registration required.
Parents, grandparents, and/or siblings of Penn State alumni who have a family member attending Penn State Berks are invited to celebrate their Penn State legacy at this event. Attendees will share memories and traditions while enjoying a complimentary breakfast.

FAQ session for parents and family10 a.m., Perkins Student Center, Room 3
Parents and families are invited to this special session where there will be an open forum to meet with staff professionals to discuss any questions or concerns and learn the breaking news from Penn State Berks.

Free attractions11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Perkins Lawn, Perkins Plaza and adjacent lawns
Attendees are invited to stroll around campus and enjoy street performers, giveaways, bouncy castles, and other attractions that are fun for the whole family.

picnic11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Perkins Lawn Tent, Prior registration is required by September 30th.
Alumni, students, faculty, staff and their families are invited to a complimentary picnic. Due to space limitations, the maximum number of guests per party is five. (Current Berks students should be included in party totals.)

Homecoming ParadeMidday
Students, faculty and staff will make their way through campus, each bringing their own unique representation to our parade. Follow the signs for the best view between the Luerssen Science Building and the Perkins Student Center. Carts and performances will be judged for a chance to win cash prizes for their organization.

Alumni welcome12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Alumni Tent, Perkins Lawn, Pre-registration required.
Berks alumni are invited to stop by the alumni tent, pick up a complimentary alumni gift, enjoy light refreshments, and mingle with faculty, staff, and other alumni.

Alumni Society Meet & Greet12:30 – 2:00 p.m., Alumni Tent, Perkins Lawn, no pre-registration required.
Visit the Berks Alumni Society tent for free ice cream from the Penn State Berkey Creamery and learn about upcoming events this fall.

Join the cheer and celebrate Penn State Berks Homecoming Court 2022.

Participants are invited to play bingo and have a chance to win Vera Bradley, sports memorabilia and other great prizes while raising funds for Penn State Berks Benefitting THON. Blue and White Society tie-dye event3:30pm to 4:30pm, Perkins Lawn Mini Tent

The Great DuBois: Two-person circus in a class of its own5 p.m., Perkins Student Center Auditorium
A fast-paced, high-energy circus show for all ages featuring incredible juggling, hula-hooping, unicycling, aerial and circus stunts, contortion, magic and audience interaction – all wrapped in a blanket of comedy. Simply put, The Great DuBois’ is the most unique two-person circus show you will ever see.

GOLD reunion6 p.m., The Pike Cafe, 930 Pike Street, reading, Pre-registration required.

Sunday October 9th

Berks benefits from THON 5K10 a.m. to noon, Perkins Plaza
Registration for race day begins at 8:45am. This 3.1 mile run or 1 mile walk supports Berks Benefitting THON’s goal of raising funds and raising awareness for childhood cancer. The cost is $25 through September 10; $30 from September 11th – Race Day. Pre-registration includes a t-shirt. SAE Baja Car Show10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., G4 car park, on the left of the Franco building
This auto show raises funds for the Penn State Berks SAE BAJA Club to enable engineering students to design, build and test off-road vehicles. All types and models of vehicles are eligible, whether old, new, car, truck, bike, restored, modified, project build, etc. Prizes are awarded by classes e.g. B. best domestic, best import, best project and best overall. Penn State Berks clean up 2:00 p.m. Meet at Perkins Plaza
Participants are invited to help us clean exit 222 off Broadcasting Road around our campus. Penn State Berks is working with PennDOT on this project. Material is provided including gloves, garbage bags and more. For more information, contact Angie DiJiacomo at [email protected]
