Ancon Construction Receives Three Excellence in Construction Awards | news

GOSHEN – Ancon Construction recently received three awards at the Associated Builders and Contractors of Indiana/Kentucky Excellence in Construction Awards Gala in Indianapolis.

Two awards were awards of excellence: one for their Shady Creek Winery Project and a second for the company’s Kryder & Harr Veterinary Clinic Project, both in commercial categories, according to a press release. The third award was an Award of Merit for the Company’s TMJ and Sleep Therapy Center project in the Healthcare category.

“Each of these projects demonstrates Ancon’s strong design-build work and commitment to excellence,” said Doug VonGunten, President of Ancon Construction. “I couldn’t be more proud of our team for their talent and hard work. This recognition validates the great work of our employees and owners. I am really looking forward to the future and what our team can achieve.”

A brief highlight of each project:

Shady Creek Winery, 2030 Tryon Road, Michigan City, offers a state-of-the-art winery experience.

• Heavy timbers used to construct some buildings were sourced from Austria.

• A transparent barrel room and shelving system to showcase Italian made wine.

• A mix of small, intimate spaces and areas for larger gatherings.

• A private tasting room, upstairs lounge area, event space, bars, fireplaces and outdoor seating areas, all overlooking a beautifully landscaped scenic outdoor seating area.

Kryder & Harr Veterinary Clinic, 13471 Ind. 23, Granger, is a deep-rooted northern Indiana company that has been providing veterinary services in the area for decades. This project was designed and built to create a facility that welcomes everyone, the release notes.

• The entrance features a large and very welcoming lobby with various seating areas nestled between the distinctive lobby aquariums, also displaying beautiful woods.

• The Ancon design team and owner worked closely together, using lean thinking to improve day-to-day processes and operations.

• The building allows for beautiful natural daylight, transparency through critical work areas and strong sight lines.

The TMJ & Sleep Therapy Center, 7221 N. Fir Road, Granger features an eco-friendly construction that conveys a warm, inviting, modern farmhouse feel – simple yet elegant.

• Rooflines are clad with solar panels.

• An abundance of windows provides spectacular natural lighting and transparency between the interior spaces and the scenic wooded grounds.

• A 24-foot wide glass garage door separates the lobby and a seminar room that opens, making the separate areas one large event space.
