Team Réciprocité

Team Réciprocité, formed by the alliance of Appalachian State University and Université d’Angers, is an innovative, multi-disciplinary collaboration of undergraduate and graduate students, experienced faculty mentors, and industry partners.

Members of Team Réciprocité look toward creating a more social and sustainable community and have made substantial progress defining design goals, technical parameters, and opportunities for discovery in this new, joint-venture project. By uniting the universities and their numerous departments around this project, Team Réciprocité will allow students to learn from and teach one another as they work together with professors and professionals.

ABOUT THE UNIVERSITIES

Appalachian State University

Appalachian State University, located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, combines the best attributes of a small liberal arts college with those of a large research university. Known for its value and affordability, Appalachian enrolls about 17,000 students and offers more than 150 undergraduate and graduate majors. Small classes and close interactions between faculty and students create a strong sense of community, which has become an Appalachian hallmark. Located in Boone, N.C., Appalachian is one of 16 universities in the University of North Carolina System.

Université d’Angers

Université d’Angers, located in the heart of The Loire Valley in France, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site recognized for its chateaux and its natural beauty. In its three campuses in Angers—Belle-Beille, St Serge, Santé, and branches in the nearby towns of Cholet and Saumur—roughly 20,000 students are enrolled. With Université d’Angers’ high enrollment of international students at 11 percent, it is a unique learning environment for all. The University is committed to seeking continual improvement in teaching methods, and new technologies play a key role. Angers, described as a city for young people where 40 percent of the population is under 30-years-old, is only 90 minutes by train from Paris.
